After Karan KC's another extraordinary batting performance, Nepal won an unbelievable 1-wicket victory over Scotland in the World Cup Cricket League-2 on Monday. After Karan scored an unbeaten 65 runs, Nepal completed the target of 297 runs at Forth Hill in Dundee with one last ball remaining.
Nepal is the last 25 runs were required in two overs. After Karan hit Safyan Sharif for 18 runs with 1 six and 2 fours in the 49th over, Nepal needed 7 runs to win in the last over. But Sandeep Lamichhane got out on the first ball of the last over. His next ball was a wide .
Then Rijan Dhakal added 1 run in the third ball and gave a strike to Karan. Karan added 2-2 runs in the fourth and fifth balls. After going wide in the last ball, Nepal managed to chase a big target . Player of the match Karan remained unbeaten on 65 runs hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes in 41 balls. This is only the third victory of Nepal in 13 matches of League 2.
opening pair Kushal Bhurtel and Asif Shaikh gave Nepal a great start. Kushal and Asif added 72 runs in 12 overs. Jasper Davidson broke this partnership by catching Asif behind the wicket in the last ball of the 12th over. Asif played 33 balls and scored 20 runs by hitting 2 fours. 
Kushal was also out after 4 balls. Kushal, who completed his half-century in 41 balls, scored a total of 53 runs in 44 balls. He hit 11 fours . Bhim Sarki and captain Rohit Paudel added 74 runs for the third wicket and pulled the Nepalese innings. Both were dismissed by Brandon McMullen in the space of 10 balls.
Bhim played 48 balls and hit 3 boundaries and got out for 40 runs. Rohit played 56 balls and scored 37 runs by hitting 1 boundary. McMullen also dismissed Dipendra Singh Airey for 8 runs in his last over. He took 3 wickets at the cost of 47 runs keeping 2 maidens in 10 overs. Sompal Kami also managed to make only 1 run.
Gulshan Jha and Karan KC gave hope to Nepal by sharing a half-century in 37 balls. These two shared a total of 54 runs in 44 balls. Gulshan played 30 balls and hit 3 fours and a six and got out for 42 runs.
Earlier, after Nepal won the toss and invited to bat, Scotland scored 296 runs by losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs. After Charlie Tier and Finlay McCreath scored half-centuries, Scotland set Nepal a huge target . 
In the first over of the game, George Muncy hit Region Dhakal with 12 runs with 2 fours . It was Reason who dismissed Muncie in his second and third overs of the match. Sompal took a beautiful catch in the third over after a top edge hit by Reason. Sompal got Nepal's second success by dismissing Branden McMullen for 19 runs.
Tier and captain Richie Berrington put on 79 runs off 80 balls for the third wicket as Scotland headed towards a strong score . Tier reached his highest score in ODIs with 80 runs. He played 72 balls and hit 12 fours and 1 six over Reason. Veteran Barrington scored 40 runs off 46 balls by hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Karan caught Tier and Barrington behind the wicket in 2 consecutive overs . Matthew Cross and Finley McCreath put on another crucial partnership of 78 runs for the fifth wicket . Cross played 56 balls and hit 3 fours and was dismissed by Sandeep Lamichhane . McCreath scored 55 runs off 67 balls hitting 3 fours and 1 six. 
Karan, Sompal and Rijan took 2 wickets each. Karan made 43 with 1 maiden in 10 overs and Sompal spent 66 runs in 10 overs . But Reason managed to give 78 runs in 10 overs.
