The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Dharamsala on Thursday has been called off due to a 'major technical glitch'.

After winning the toss and batting, Punjab played 10.1 overs and could not play any more matches when the floodlights went off. "Due to power outage, one of the towers of the stadium has malfunctioned. Apologies for the inconvenience caused to the participants inside the stadium," BCCI said in an official statement.

But another report said the game was stopped due to security reasons. According to IANS, IPL chief Arun Dhumal has said that this decision has been taken to take precautions based on the 'red alert' issued in Jammu.

It was initially said that the match was canceled due to floodlights, but later it was said that the spectators were taken out of the stadium for safety.

According to PTI, the match had to be called off after an air strike alert in areas near Jammu for the same reason. A 'blackout' has been imposed in the hill towns of the Indian state of Punjab, including Jammu.

The toss was delayed by 1 hour and 15 minutes due to rain. After that, Punjab openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhasimran Singh got off to a great start with a century partnership. After hitting 5 fours and 6 sixes in 34 balls, Arya was dismissed for 70 runs. Another opener Singh was at the crease after playing 28 balls and hitting 7 boundaries for 50 runs.

Just before the start of the match, the match between Punjab and Mumbai Indians in Dharamsala on Sunday was shifted to Ahmedabad. The IPL has said that there is a managerial challenge for this game. The Punjab team is based in Dharamsala and Chandigarh cities. However, civil and commercial flights have been stopped at the airports of both these cities since Wednesday.

Airports in the north-west region of India have also been closed due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. Jammu is only about 200 km away from Dharamsala. It was reported that there was an explosion in Jammu just a few hours ago.

There is no chance for the Mumbai team to reach Chandigarh and Dharamsala due to the closure of airports. The organizers are facing a big problem to transport the broadcast team including teams from Delhi and Punjab from Dharamsala to the venue of the upcoming match. It will take 10 hours for both teams from Punjab and Delhi to reach Delhi by land. Delhi will play Gujarat on Sunday and Punjab will play Mumbai in Ahmedabad on the same day.
