Punjab Kings, with a strong performance, defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Sunday. After Prabhasimran Singh scored 91 runs off 48 balls, Punjab lost the toss and came into bat with a score of 236-5.

In reply, Lucknow lost 7 wickets and scored only 199 runs. Ayush Badoni scored 74 off 40 balls. He hit the same 5 fours and a six. Abdul Samad scored 45 runs off 24 balls by hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. Avesh Khan played 10 balls and hit 3 fours and 1 six and remained unbeaten on 19 runs. 

Lucknow played under pressure from the start as Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for nil, Aden McCram was dismissed for 13 and Nicholas Pooran was out for 6 runs. Captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 18 runs off 17 balls. From Punjab, Arshdeep Singh spent 16 runs in 3 overs, Azmatullah Omarzai spent 33 runs in 4 overs and Marco Jansen and Yuzvender Chahal took 1 wicket each.

Shashank Singh scored 33 off 15 balls with 4 fours and 1 six and Marcus Stonis scored 15 off 5 balls. Lucknow's Akash Singh and Digwesh Rathi took 2 wickets each.

Rajasthan Royals captain Rian Parag hit 6 consecutive sixes but the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders won by 1 run in an exciting match. Chasing the target of 207 runs, Rajasthan had lost 5 wickets when they made 71 runs. 

Parag scored a 45-ball 95 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, hitting six consecutive sixes in two different overs. This is the first time this has been possible in IPL. Earlier, Chris Gayle hit 5 sixes in one over in 2012, Rahul Tewatia in 2020, Ravindra Jadeja in 2021 and Rinku Singh in 2023.

This is the ninth defeat in 12 games for Rajasthan, who are already out of the playoff race.
