Top-ranked Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in their first two matches at home in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Wednesday.

The team was easily defeated by Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets.

Mohammed Siraj, who was once the spearhead of RCB's bowling, took 3 wickets and kept Gujarat under control of the home team. After losing the toss and being invited to bat, RCB lost 8 wickets and scored only 169 runs. Jos Buttler (pictured) scored an unbeaten 73 as Gujarat completed the target with 13 balls to spare.

After their first loss of the season, RCB slipped to the third spot in net run rate. Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are in the first two positions after winning the first two matches. After winning the second time in 3 matches, Gujarat has climbed to the fourth place.

After Kagiso Rabada was unable to play due to personal reasons, Arshad Khan, who came in his place, gave a big shock to RCB by dismissing Virat Kohli for 7 runs. After Siraj dismissed Devdutt Padikal (4) and opener Phil Salt (14) in the power play, RCB could not get up in the game. Captain Rajat Patidar was also dismissed lbw by Ishant Sharma for 12 runs.

In the past, RCB supporters who were excited when Siraj took wickets, were shocked after he took important wickets for their team on Wednesday. RCB, who never won the title in the 18th edition of IPL, this time won the first two important victories. But RCB, who played at home for the first time this season, had a disappointing performance in front of a big fan base.

Lam Livingstone scored 54 off 40 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes, Jitesh Sharma scored 33 runs off 21 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Tim Debide, who got out in the last ball of the innings, scored 32 runs by hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes in 18 balls. Player of the match Siraj, who also took the wicket of Livingstone, took 3 wickets at the cost of 19 runs in 4 overs. Sai Kishore spent 22 runs in 4 overs and famous Krishna along with Arshad and Ishant took 1 wicket each.

In response, Butler scored his second half-century in the third match from Gujarat. In RCB's innings, Buttler was able to drop Salt's regular catch early on. But it did not cost Gujarat much. Buttler hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in a 39-ball innings.

After captain Shubman Gill scored 14 runs off 14 balls, Butler and Sai Sudarshan shared a 75-run partnership for the second wicket after Bhuvnesh Kumar was dismissed. Sudarshan played 36 balls and scored 49 runs with 7 fours and 1 six and was dismissed by Jessel Hazlewood. "Impact player" Serfan Rutherford, who is unbeaten with Butler, scored 30 runs by hitting 1 four and 3 sixes in 18 balls.
