Experienced English cricketer Nathan Souter is going to play Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket for Kathmandu Gurkhaz. Kathmandu Gurkhaz announced on Tuesday that they brought in Souter, a 32-year-old leg-spin all-rounder.

 

He is the fifth foreign player in Kathmandu Gurkhaz, owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Venture. The team has already signed two other English cricketers Stephen Eskinazi and Dan Douthwaite, Netherlands opener Michael Levitt, Namibian captain Mervy Gerard Erasmus. 

Souter has excelled in English domestic cricket, especially in tournaments like the T20 Blast. Kathmandu Gurkhaz believes that his characteristics and ability to win matches will make his team more competitive this season. Sandesh Katwal, Chief Executive Officer of Gurkhaz expressed his happiness on Souter's arrival and said, "Souter will add experience and strategic skills to our team". His ability to excel in pressure situations will be very important to our campaign . We are excited to welcome him.'

Born in Australia, he played for the New South Wales U-23 team. He has experience in The Hundreds, Vitality Blast, Caribbean Premier League, International League T20. In Sokram, he has scored 154 wickets at an economy rate of 7.60 and 245 runs at a strike rate of 112.90 in 143 Twenty20 matches. He has played in various leagues in the world for Oval Invisibles, Desert Vipers, Durham and Guyana Amazon Warriors. 

Souter said that he is excited to come to Kathmandu to play in the NPL and said, "It is an honor for me to join the Kathmandu Gurkhaz team." I am looking forward to perform well in front of the cricket loving fans of Nepal and contribute to the team's success . I want to make this season unforgettable.' NPL will start from November 15 and Kathmandu Gurkhaz will play their first match against Chitwan Rhinos on November 17. 

Karan KC 'Marquee' player Kathmandu Gurkhaz took Shahav Alam, Bhim Sarki, Rashid Khan, Shankar Rana, Krishna Karki, Dipesh Kandel, Sumit Maharjan, Raju Rizal, Vivek KC and Pratik Shrestha from the auction. Vasant Shahi is the head coach of the team.
