UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has criticized President Ramchandra Poudel. Oli has accused President Poudel of attacking democracy by dissolving Parliament after the Gen-G movement and the subsequent actions.
At a party workshop on Wednesday, he accused the President of ending democracy with his actions.
‘It was said that the President saved democracy with great cunning, but so far, the President has become a rubber stamp and signed anything. As the protector and guardian of the constitution, he has not done what he should do, and has done what he should not do,’ he said, ‘The President is signing anything. Democracy has been ended with one step after another with great cunning. Which is unacceptable to the UML.’
Oli himself had dissolved Parliament twice due to internal disputes within the then NCP. He dissolved the parliament for the first time on 2077 Poush 5 and the second time on 2078 Jestha 8. But the Supreme Court declared the dissolution unconstitutional on 28 Asar 2078.
