UML has decided not to take the land donated by Bhatbhateni Supermarket owner Min Bahadur Gurung and his wife Savitri Gurung. Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai informed that a discussion was held in the secretariat meeting held on Monday regarding the return of the land given by Gurung for the construction of the party headquarters. Now, UML is going to build the party headquarters in Madannagar, Balkhu.

‘With thanks to the donor (Min Bahadur Gurung couple) who proposed the construction of a building in Kalanki, their proposal will be withdrawn and now it will be decided to build a new office building in Madannagar, Balkhu,’ the proposal made in the secretariat meeting said. Deputy General Secretary Bhattarai said, ‘Discussions have been held in the meeting. A formal decision on this will be taken by the secretariat meeting to be held on Friday.’

On Asoj 25, 2081, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who was also the then Prime Minister, said that Kirtipur Municipality-2 The foundation stone of the building was laid in Maitrinagar. The UML had said that it would build the party headquarters building with the membership fees and support of party members. The Gurung couple had provided 10 ropanis and 14 aanas of land for the construction of the building. The UML party office in Madannagar, Balkhu, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 was destroyed after the 2072 BS earthquake and it had been living in rented buildings in various places for the past 9 years. Currently, the UML is operating its central office in the Tulsilal Memorial Building in Chyasal. Action was taken against three leaders who said that land should not be taken as donations. Former Vice President Rawal, Standing Committee member Pandey and central member Timsena had protested after businessman Min Bahadur Gurung donated land and Gurung himself built the UML headquarters on it.
