The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has formally put forward a proposal for left unity. In the meeting of the Central Coordination Committee of the NCP, Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has put forward a proposal for left unity under the title ‘Outline of the upcoming program’. He had also submitted a written report in the review report of the House of Representatives elections that the lack of unity and cooperation was one of the reasons for the defeat of the communists.
The meeting passed his proposal. Under the title ‘Reorganization of the Communist Movement’, Dahal has emphasized unity among all the left-wing forces in Nepal. The NCP’s decision states that ‘special emphasis will be placed on unity among all the left-wing forces for communist reorganization’. NCP spokesperson Prakash Jwala informed that the party has decided to take the initiative for left unity. Similarly, it has been decided to go to the general convention in Mangsir with ideological, political, organizational and cultural clarity for the reorganization of the NCP. The NCP has decided to hold a general convention in Kathmandu on 11-15 Mangesh.
Although the UML and the Maoists had united earlier in Jestha 2075, that unity lasted only for about two years due to a power struggle between the chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal. In the House of Representatives elections on 21 Falgun, the UML won 25 seats and the NCP 17. After the public opinion declined, the leaders of the UML and the NCP are in dialogue for cooperation with the left.
The NCP has called for the reorganization of the communist movement through left unity and cooperation among the supporters of the peace agreement. ‘We call for the reorganization of the communist movement through left unity and cooperation among the supporters of the peace agreement for the construction of a socialist-oriented Nepal through social justice, good governance and prosperity, while protecting nationalism and the achievements gained through the sacrificial struggle of the Nepali people,’ the NCP has said.
Dahal said that 50 percent of the youth will be brought into leadership in every committee of the party. 'There will be an elected committee at every level. 50 percent of the youth and young people will be brought into leadership in the committees. All the committees will be small in size,' he said.
The NCP has urged other democratic forces to unite on national issues. 'This meeting calls on all patriotic and democratic forces to move forward together to protect and strengthen the country's national independence, sovereignty, geographical integrity and the federal democratic republic,' the decision said. 'Initiatives will be taken from the House and the streets after reaching a common understanding in the interest of the nation and the people.'
Government's attention drawn to the need to act according to the law
The NCP has drawn the government's attention to the need to protect democracy, promote people's livelihood, employment and prosperity with social justice, good governance and non-aligned foreign policy and to control price increases. The first meeting of the Central Coordination Committee held after the unification of the Maoists and the Unified Socialists on Tuesday decided to support the good works of the government and oppose its wrongdoings by passing a contemporary resolution. ‘The current government should move forward in the direction of protecting national independence and democracy, promoting people's livelihood and employment, prosperity with social justice, good governance and adopting a non-aligned foreign policy,’ NCP spokesperson Prakash Jwala said after the meeting, ‘Our party will play the role of a constructive and responsible opposition by supporting the good works of the government and opposing its wrongdoings.’
The NCP has warned the government to control the price hike in petroleum products and control black marketing. The NCP has also stated that the government has created panic among thousands of disabled, children, elderly, helpless and poor people living in squatter settlements in various parts of the country without identifying the real squatters and providing alternative housing. The NCP has also demanded good governance without prejudice, as it has commented on the arrests of political party leaders, employees and industrialists in the name of investigation. Similarly, stating that it has a clear and firm belief that the research, extraction, production, processing and utilization of the country's natural resources and resources should be in the interest of the nation, the NCP has also drawn the government's attention to making decisions only after establishing a national consensus on serious and sensitive issues of national interest and national security.
The NCP has drawn the government's attention to the term 'buffer state' and urged it to use the word used in the constitution. Similarly, the NCP has objected to the restrictions and restrictions that the Nepal government is trying to impose on student organizations and trade unions, contrary to the commitments expressed in the national and international forums in favor of the constitution and human rights. The meeting has concluded that the report of the Karki Commission formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 is unbalanced and demanding. The meeting of the Central Coordination Committee, which ended on Tuesday, has urged that a budget session be called. The NCP has urged the government to expedite the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to find and investigate the missing citizens and to finalize the remaining tasks of the peace process as soon as possible.
