Opposition party leaders have gathered in a meeting to discuss the candidate for the chairman of the parliamentary committee. The meeting, which is being held at the office of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party in Singha Durbar, is being attended by the Congress, UML and NCP.

General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire, Bhishma Angdembe, Arjun Narsingh KC, Bharat Bahadur Khadka, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali from the Congress are in the meeting, while leaders from the UML, including Secretary Padma Aryal, former Vice President Guru Baral, NCP's Barshaman Pun and Chief Whip Yubaraj Dulal, are in the discussion.

UML leader Baral said that a common view of the opposition parties will be formed on the issue of selecting the chairman of the parliamentary committee.

According to a Congress leader who attended the meeting, news reached the meeting that an agreement had been reached to appoint Shram Sanskriti Party MP Aren Rai as the chairman of the accounts committee. 'A leader had tried to contact RSP President Ravi Lamichhane,' he said. 'Earlier, discussions were underway with the RSP President about giving the chairmanship of the Accounts Committee to the main opposition party. Today, when it was suddenly said that it would be given to Labor Culture, the RSP President did not pick up the phone when I tried to get information.' He said that even if the RSP does not support it, a candidate will be nominated with the consent of the opposition parties.

Congress leader Bhishma Angdambe said that discussions are ongoing among the opposition parties. According to him, discussions are underway between the three parties to jointly nominate candidates for the State Affairs and Good Governance, Finance and Accounts Committees.

There is a program to register nominations for the post of chairman of the parliamentary committee today. The time for registering candidates has been set from 1 to 4 pm.
