Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Vice President of the National Independent Party (NISP), has said that the work done by senior party leader Balendra Shah when he was the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City will also be included in the upcoming manifesto.

He was also given the responsibility of writing the manifesto of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for the House of Representatives elections to be held on February 21. He said that Balendra had done exemplary work on the issues of 'delivery' and 'morality' while in the metropolis and that he would give it a national format in the manifesto.

'We understand that the proposed Prime Minister Balendra Shah has had a very fruitful experience in the metropolis,' Wagle said in a long interview with Kantipur, 'He has done exemplary work especially on the issues of delivery and morale. He has spent a budget of about one trillion, but so far no one has been able to question whether a single penny has been misappropriated.  Therefore, we will give the metropolis's delivery model a national format.

He also informed that they call the manifesto a promise and that since questions are being raised about the party's ideological grounding, efforts will be made to clarify it. ‘We are being misled if we do not have a theoretical foundation, if we do not have any ideas,’ Wagle said, ‘That is why what is the political and economic thinking? What is the understanding of society, foreign relations, diaspora, religion, culture? We will put such issues in the preamble.’

He said that the issues of why we should vote for the RSVP in the elections will also be included. ‘And we will present the grounds why the RSVP had to be chosen.’ In which a short history from hope and prohibition to explosion and trust will be included. Where are we? Where will we reach? And how will we reach it? A big section is coming. Work is being done on that,’ Wagle clarified.

He also said that the RSVP’s understanding will be put in the manifesto in ten glimpses, including Nepal’s economy, political character, the society sought by the RSVP, and environmental challenges.

‘The task of starting from scratch by coming to the RSP government is not to continue the continuity of the state,’ Wagle says, ‘Parties come and go, leaders come and go. But, the state is permanent. The task is to continue the good works done by the state.’

He mentioned that the manifesto will also include 100 initiatives in 100 days and that a new program called ‘Contract with Citizens’ will be introduced before that.
