The Congress's Sher Bahadur Deuba faction has agreed to withdraw the writ filed in the court against the Election Commission's decision to update the Central Working Committee elected through the special general convention.

The then acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka filed the writ petition on Sunday. The initial hearing of the writ petition has been scheduled for Tuesday. The Deuba faction had announced legal action and street struggle against the Election Commission's decision, saying it was against the constitution and laws of Nepal. Khadka himself filed a case in court calling the newly elected working committee illegal and has decided not to contest the election on moral grounds. Preparations are underway to withdraw the case before it goes to trial on Tuesday. Former president Deuba's secretariat has denied the allegations, saying there was no agreement on the issue of withdrawing the writ petition. The secretariat issued a statement: 'Our serious attention has been drawn to the false and misleading news published in some media outlets that the writ petition will be withdrawn. The Nepali Congress expects that the writ petition will not be withdrawn and that fair justice will be served by the court.'
