The Deuba faction of the UML and the Congress had discussed with the commission the postponement of the nomination date.
The Election Commission has begun discussions on whether to postpone the nomination date or continue it beyond the scheduled date.
According to the commission source, the UML and the Deuba faction of the Congress had discussed with the commission about postponing the nomination date.
As per the scheduled schedule, the commission has set the nomination date for the 6th. The commission, however, has said that although it has discussed continuing the nominations on the 7th and 8th, it is still at the initial stage.
The faction of outgoing President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is standing against the Election Commission's decision to grant legitimacy to the Gagan Thapa faction of the Congress, has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court. The Deuba faction has demanded that the nomination be postponed, saying that they should be deprived of participating in the election if an interim order is not issued.
