National Assembly Election: JSP, Nepal file separate candidacies in Madhesh

JSP Nepal has filed separate candidacies for the National Assembly in Madhesh Province, citing disagreements over two seats. After JSP leader Mahantha Thakur initially filed his candidacy with the support of Congress-UML, three JSP candidates later filed their candidacies simultaneously.

JSP Nepal leader Shailendra Sah said that he had filed a separate candidacy as there was no agreement with the Congress and the UML on two seats in the National Assembly. 

JSP Nepal has filed Shailesh Chaudhary as a candidate for the National Assembly on the minority side, Chandrakala Sah as a candidate for women, and Chameli Devi Das as a candidate for Dalits.

‘We have filed separate candidacies after there was no agreement on two seats,’ said JSP leader Sah, ‘The chairman is in Bhairahawa. After returning to Kathmandu, there will be further talks with the Congress-UML. There is still time to withdraw the candidacy until the 27th.’

National Assembly Election: JSP, Nepal file separate candidacies in Madhesh Meanwhile, after registering his candidacy, JSP leader Mahantha Thakur remained silent when asked by a journalist, ‘Which party alliance is your candidacy from?’  After registering his candidacy, JSP leader Mahantha Thakur remained silent. Leader Sharad Singh Bhandari, who was standing behind him, had said that he had filed his candidacy in the Congress-UML alliance.
