The letter has a deadline of seven days for a response.
The Commission of Inquiry formed to investigate the incidents of 23-24 Bhadra has written a letter to the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Commission member Vigyanraj Sharma confirmed that he had reached Oli's residence in Gundu and submitted the letter.
The letter has a deadline of seven days for a response. The commission is only left to take a statement from Oli. The commission had completed the statement of the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak last Wednesday.
The commission has also written to Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal for a statement. The commission has previously taken statements from security personnel deployed in the field, including the Nepal Police Chief, Army Chief and the then Chief Secretary. The commission initially collected details of the damage on 24 Bhadra. Then on 6 Ashoja, the commission asked the Police Headquarters for a detailed report on the level of officers deployed in the field on 23 and 24 Bhadra, from the jawans to the field officers and the officers who gave orders. The Commission of Inquiry Act 2026 has assigned the main responsibility of identifying the causes of the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra (violence, vandalism, looting, arson) and recommending action after investigation.
