Nidhi says: The rationale for a special general convention in Congress has ended

What you should know

Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi has said that the gathering called by the General Secretary has no meaning as the rationale for the special general convention has ended. He said that the rationale for the special general convention has ended after the regular agenda was unanimously passed in the Central Working Committee meeting held on Mangsir 15.

'The day it was unanimously decided to hold the regular general convention from December 26 to 28, it is the same day. The justification for the special general convention has ended,' he told Kantipur, 'The decision not to hold the special general convention has already been made on the 15th.'

He also said that since all the parties have already decided to contest the elections, a special or regular general convention cannot be held before the elections. He reacted that the special general convention called by the general secretaries is an irresponsible act.'

'It is the general secretary's job to implement whatever the central working committee has decided. The central working committee has not decided to hold a special general convention yet,' he said, 'Therefore, calling for a special general convention is an act against the decision of the central working committee.'

When asked if there has been any attempt to sit down with the chairman to reach an agreement, leader Nidhi said, 'I am not aware of that. They have not done it to us. What to discuss?'

Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka is holding discussions with the members of the establishment side in the Central Working Committee this afternoon. It is said that the discussion will also discuss the ideas to be presented in the Central Working Committee meeting today.

After General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Biswi Prakash Sharma postponed the regular general convention and called for a special general convention on December 10-11, there has been a stir in the Congress.
