RPP leader Kamal Thapa has claimed that there is no truth to the accusation that he "split the party and ran away after taking an oath on the Gita."

Speaking at the party unity meeting between the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal), Thapa explained the background of his leaving the party, not happily, but with a broken heart.

He said, 'As a player, I have the character to accept defeat happily. I left home for various reasons. I think that the accusation of splitting the party and running away after losing despite touching the Geeta is unjustified. However, there was no truth in it.'

He said that although he had left the party for various reasons after the general convention, he returned home with the organization across the country. He also said that there is a need today to not let history repeat itself and to move forward together with everyone.

On 28 Falgun 2076, Kamal Thapa, who was seen on the podium at the unity announcement program of RPP and RPP Samyukta, had said, holding the Hindu religious scripture Gita in his hand, ‘I swear by holding this Gita in my hand, I will not let RPP break.’

But Thapa’s Gita oath broke in about two years. After being defeated by Rajendra Lingden for the post of party president in the unity general convention held in 2078, Thapa announced that he was leaving RPP. Lingden had secured 1,844 votes in the general convention, while Thapa had secured 1,617 votes. He revived RPP Nepal by reaching Hetauda on 25 Mangsir 2078.
