While the National Independent Party (NIP) has included 22 candidates from Chitwan, the Congress list has zero candidates from Chitwan.
No one from Chitwan is included in the closed list of proportional representation candidates submitted to the Election Commission by the Nepali Congress for the House of Representatives elections.
While the National Independent Party (NISP) included 22 people from Chitwan , the list of the Congress shows zero from Chitwan.
'Till this morning, I had heard that at least one person would be from Chitwan. Now, I have heard that they will not be included.' Congress Chitwan President Rajeshwor Khanal said.
Earlier, two members of the Chitwan Congress were MPs from Chitwan in the House of Representatives from the proportional representation side only.
In both the 2074 and 2079 elections to the House of Representatives, the Congress was unable to win directly from Chitwan.
In every election, whether local or parliamentary, internal conflicts within the Chitwan Congress come to the surface.
The list of proportional candidates submitted by the Congress to the Election Commission includes names ranging from Arjun Narsingh KC, who has been a minister and MP repeatedly since the Panchayat period, to Sanjaya Pokharel Poudel, daughter of President Ramchandra Poudel. The proportional list submitted by the Congress also includes names of former ministers Romi Gauchan Thakali, Bhishma Angdambe and Bhimsendas Pradhan.
Similarly, the names of former minister Bal Bahadur KC's wife Rina Upreti and his sister Goma KC have also been included in the list.
After a dispute arose during the preparation of the proportional list, the Congress had decided to divide the seats between the establishment party and other parties by 60/40. The Congress had set a criterion not to include those who have already got the opportunity through proportional representation since 2064 BS. According to the criteria set by the Congress, provincial assembly members, local municipality officials, and people who are proportional representatives in the provincial assembly will not be included in the list.
