Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Kulman Ghising have met. Sources close to both parties told Kantipur that the meeting took place at a place in Baluwatar at 8 am on Saturday.
Balen met Ghising while talks were underway for unification with the National Independent Party (NISP). During the meeting, he is said to have discussed the proposal from the NISP and the modalities of unification.
According to leaders close to Ghising, Balen had earlier clearly stated that he would support them. Now, it is said that he has informed about it after talks with the NISP started.
Second-tier leaders are currently working on modalities of cooperation to bring NISP President Ravi Lamichhane and Balen together. Shishir Khanal and Ashim Shah, who are also former ministers, are working from the NISP, while Kumar Ben and Bhupdev Shah were holding talks from Balen.
It is said that after an understanding is reached at this level, Balen and Lamichhane themselves will meet.
