”I am leaving. He requested that there should be no disagreement within the party when I leave. We have supported him with his initiative, interest and trust,” Nidhi told Kantipur.
What you should know
Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi has said that he has agreed to bring out a pre-election agenda by trusting party president Sher Bahadur Deuba. The establishment-led group, led by Nidhi and another leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, had been taking the stand that a general convention should not be held before the election.
The Congress meeting had been indecisive for a month and a half when General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma took a stand before the election and leaders including Nidhi and Sitaula took a stand after the election.
Even though Deuba showed activeness in bringing a schedule before the election, the establishment side agreed. 'I am leaving, he requested that there should be no disagreement within the party when I leave. We supported him with his initiative, interest and trust,' Nidhi told Kantipur.
However, Nidhi said that there will be competition in the upcoming convention from the group of seven former office bearers. Another leader Sitaula also responded that there will be competition and such competition will be tougher than in the past. However, he said that it remains to be seen how the schedule for the general convention, which has been announced in a short time, will be implemented.
