The Nepali Congress registered its party with the Election Commission today for the purpose of the National Assembly and House of Representatives elections.
The Congress has registered the party with the commission under the official signature of President Sher Bahadur Deuba. In the meeting of the Central Working Committee on Asoj 28, President Deuba had given the acting responsibility to Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka. At that time, he also gave a message that he would not return to active politics. But today, while registering the party, the Congress has put forward the name of President Deuba.
This means that Deuba can show his activeness in the distribution of tickets for the upcoming House of Representatives elections on Falgun 21 and the National Assembly elections on Magh 11, said a central member.
The Congress had only made a formal decision on Saturday to participate in the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21. The Central Working Committee meeting had decided to go for the election, concluding that the current political crisis, protection of the constitution, and the demands raised by Gen-G could be addressed institutionally through elections.
