The CPN-Maoist Center's general convention organizing committee is meeting today to approve the unity with parties including the CPN-Unified Socialist (S).
The meeting, which will begin at 1 pm at Nepal Pragya Pratishthan, will approve the unity agreement between the 8 parties.
On Sunday, 8 parties, including the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party, signed an 18-point party unity agreement. The signatories are the Maoist Center (Pushpakamal Dahal), the CPN-S (Madhav Kumar Nepal), the Nepal Socialist Party (Mahindra Ray Yadav), the CPN-Socialist Party (Raju Karki), the Jana Samajwadi Party (Subhash Raj Kafle), the CPN (Chiran Pun), the Maoist Socialist Party (Karnajit Budhathoki) and the CPN-Communist Party (Prem Bahadur Singh). It has been decided to hold a national unity conference on 19 Kartik with the participation of the central committees of all the eight parties. The conference itself has agreed to declare party unity, pass a manifesto and interim statute, and form a central committee.
