The police have completed a peace walk in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, to spread awareness about road accident reduction, drug abuse and peace and security. The program organized by the Area Police Office, Lumbini and Lumbini Province Police Office on Monday was attended by monks, nuns, lamas, students, locals, employees, public representatives, army, police and armed police. The walk, which started from the Akhand Shanti Deep in Lumbini, ended at the International Meditation and Assembly Center, two km north. A short play was shown at the program to raise awareness about drug abuse and road accidents. Speaking at the program, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said that the energy of the walk should help make the society civilized and cultured by putting into practice the compassion, friendship, morality and generosity of Buddha.
