Let's not forget the originality of the Teej song

It is seen that originality is being lost in the dancing and singing of women during the festival of Teej, thereby adding to the challenge of cultural values and traditions.

Let's not forget the originality of the Teej song

What you should know

Despite the busyness of household work, the fact that women in Nepal are shouldering many responsibilities is not hidden from anyone. Whether they are housewives or teachers or women working in organizations, they are facing some kind of pain, stress and frustration.

On Haritalika Teej, the great festival of women, all women feel their mind and body light. It is natural for a married woman to be happy, meeting with her parents and other family members in Maiti, but they take more pleasure from dancing.

There is no one who can't be bothered by the songs filled with Nepali rhythms, from children, old people to young people. In other words, even though Teej is called a women's festival, it seems to have a positive effect on every member of the society. The reason for that is the Nepali originality in Teej song. So let's not destroy that originality.

In Teej, the attractive Nepali dress of women, the clouds running in the sky, the occasional rain and the greenery of the ground make the musical atmosphere of the house more refined. Even though it is called a cultural and musical festival, in some places, family disharmony, tension with mother-in-law, oppression with the crying of a girl can be found in this song.

However, since a few years, there has been a change in the lyrics, style and dance venue of Teej songs. Earlier, originality was found in dances and songs with village rhythms and local words in open spaces, Nepali rhythms, styles and dances were alive, but now programs are being conducted in decorated studios, party palaces, etc. As a matter of fact, the festival of Teej, which has a tradition of celebrating Shiva and Parvati as a religious festival for happiness, good fortune and prosperity, cannot be forgotten.

The complaints are also being heard that there is an increase in disorderliness in the dances, some women are drinking too much and try to spoil the atmosphere, attacks on religion and tradition are increasing. After the dignity of Teej song is tarnished, the originality, tradition and culture also start to be encroached upon. Let's not have a negative impact on the language and literature of the Teej song. Let's wake up the Teej song that reflects Nepaliness in the same way and let's not let the original Nepali traditions get damaged.
