The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has stated that any unwanted activities that violate freedom of information and communication, create an atmosphere of fear in media houses, and seek to shrink the fourth organ under any pretext will not be acceptable.
Suspicious vehicles were parked in front of the gates of various media outlets including Kantipur Publication and OnlineKhabar.com on Monday morning. Vehicles were parked at the office gate in a manner that prevented other vehicles from moving. In a statement issued by General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, it was stated that such suspicious and mysterious activities, carried out with the intention of attacking the environment in which the mass media and media personnel, established as the fourth organ of the state, work fearlessly or putting them under psychological pressure, are a clear violation of democratic values. The statement said - 'As a democratic, responsible and political party that believes in the rule of law, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has always stood firmly in favor of complete press freedom, the fundamental right of citizens to be informed and independent journalism.' The driver of the vehicle with number Ba 12 Cha 8545 in online news, Ba 2 Cha 1255 in Himalaya TV, and Ba Province-01 034 Cha 8480 parked at the gate of Kantipur Media Group and fled. The statement stated that free and fearless journalism is the lifeblood of democracy and the National Independent Party is always committed to protecting it. It is also stated that the National Independent Party will condemn such and any other steps motivated by the aim of terrorizing the press sector.
The RSPB statement also states that it has drawn the serious attention of the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the concerned security agencies to ensure the physical and psychological safety of the entire media by conducting an immediate, impartial and truthful investigation into these incidents and to immediately identify and take legal action against anyone involved in such suspicious activities.
In addition, the RSPB has appealed to the entire media world to continue performing its professional duty of truth-based journalism without succumbing to any pressure or intimidation, and expressed its commitment that the RSPB will always stand in favor of the safety of media personnel and media houses and complete press freedom.
It has been revealed that the vehicle parked at Kantipur with the gate closed is being used by Ravi Jaiswal. He is a nominated member of the Central Research and Documentation Department of the ruling National Independent Party (RSPB). He was nominated to this department after the integration of the group of the then Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah in the RSPB. He said that the car parked in front of Kantipur was his.
Around 12:30 pm, Kantipur Publication called a crane to remove the car.
