Ashwin Rawat, 45, of Buddhanagar, has died from drowning.

He died during treatment at Bir Hospital.

According to Dr. Apar Lamichhane, head of the Dr. K.D. Joshi Burn Treatment Center at the hospital, he was admitted with burns over 70 percent of his body and died during treatment.

"We did everything possible to save him, but due to the severity of the burns, we could not. The fire had severely affected not only his face but also his respiratory tract," said Dr. Lamichhane.

Raut set himself on fire on Saturday. As soon as the news of the self-immolation was received, a team from Kathmandu Police took the injured man to Bir Hospital. According to the preliminary police investigation, he set himself on fire due to a domestic dispute.
