The special court has granted permission to keep UML Vice President and former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel in custody for 7 days. The police had produced Poudel, who was arrested on charges of helping controversial businessman Deepak Bhatt to gain business benefits, in court on Tuesday.

The special court administration branch has said that the remand of Poudel has been extended for the first time by a bench of judges Narayan Prasad Poudel, Hemanta Rawal and Umesh Koirala. Following the order, the accused Poudel has been sent to judicial custody.

Poudel was arrested from Surkhet on Monday. He was brought to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj on Tuesday.
