The incident of a forest employee pushing a tempo off a cliff in the Chure area of Kailali has been resolved with a compensation of Rs 500,000. The dispute that arose after the employee pushed the tempo off a cliff in an impulsive manner while clearing forest encroachment was resolved after talks between both parties.
The forest office employees collected money among themselves and provided Rs 500,000 to the victim's family. Ghanashyam Dhami, the husband of victim Dhanadevi Dhami, informed Kantipur that he had received the compensation after a discussion at the Malakheti Police Station in Attariya.
After receiving the compensation, the victim's husband Ghanashyam Dhami said that he was happy. He said, 'We received Rs 500,000 as compensation, but not as much as we demanded. Still, I am happy.'
Along with this, there is a possibility that the forest employees who are in police custody will also be released.
According to the information provided by the District Police Office, Kailali, the case of the employees in custody has reached the government prosecutor's office. Information on whether or when they will be released will be known only after the decision is made, said DSP Yogendra Timilsina, spokesperson of the District Police Office.
Earlier, the incident gained national attention after a video of the forest team pushing a tempo off a cliff was made public. On June 29, forest employees pushed Dhanadevi Dhami's tempo off a cliff on the charge of trading on the roadside.
On June 30, the police arrested 12 employees for investigation. Two people who were found to be more guilty of pushing the tempo were released and a case was filed against them.
