The 774 electric vehicles (EVs) seized by the Armed Police Force have been handed over to the concerned parties.
According to Armed Police Force spokesperson DIG Netra Bahadur Karki, the vehicles were handed over to the concerned parties on Saturday. According to him, the vehicles were returned in coordination with the Ministry of Finance.
The Armed Police Force had conducted a check campaign on the roads from Kaski to Mustang and seized 774 EVs that entered through the Nepal-China border checkpoint Korala. Spokesperson Karki said that the vehicles were seized for further investigation at the request of the Ministry of Finance.
'The vehicles stopped in Kushma and Hemja in the mountains have already been taken away by the concerned owners. The process of taking away those stopped at the Korala checkpoint after passing customs inspection has also begun,' said Bidur Chudal, Chief Customs Officer of Mustang Customs Office Korala. 'Since they were imported after completing the process, permission has been given to the concerned owners to take them away.'
After the vehicles were seized, the Ministry of Finance formed an investigation committee led by Deputy Secretary Bhupal Raj Shakya. The committee, which also included representatives from the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force, was tasked with investigating and submitting a report on whether the vehicles were imported legally or not.
