Art director and comedian Pasang T Sherpa has passed away. Sherpa, who had been suffering from liver problems for a long time, died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the Helping Hands Community Hospital in Kathmandu, said Pushkar Lama, president of the Nepal Film Technicians Association.

Sherpa was taken to the hospital on Monday after experiencing health problems. He passed away around 12 noon on Tuesday during treatment. His body has been kept at the Sherpa Monastery in Bouddha. Sherpa's funeral will be held at Tekughat on Thursday at 11 am, the Lama said. 'Those who want to pay their respects to him can also go to the monastery now. But his funeral has been scheduled to be held tomorrow at 11 am,' the Lama said.

Sherpa had 2 daughters and 4 sons. Sherpa started his journey as an art director from being a comedian with Badri Adhikari's film 'Dusman'. He confidently admitted that he became an art director because of Badri. 'I became an art director because of Keki Adhikari's father, Badri Adhikari,' Sherpa had said in an interview with Kantipur. 59-year-old Sherpa has done more than 300 films so far. The last film he worked on as an art director was 'Jhingedau 2'.

Pasang, who has been active in art direction for 40 years, spent his childhood in Boudh. While studying at Mahendra Boudh School, he was very restless. He was always ahead in extracurricular activities than studies. He was interested in dancing and singing. He started acting in video films through television.

Badri Adhikari, Narayan Puri, and Ashok Sharma were part of the same video film-making group. Pasang used to act in films made by the same group. At that time, the same video films were shown on the small screen in the current Bhrikutimandap market. Pasang acted in many video films including 'Kshitijpariko Laas', 'Sunsan', 'Chitkar', 'Angutha Chaap'. He also directed some video films. Then he made his big screen debut with Prakash Sayami's 'Prithvi'. In the film, he had to play the role of actor Rajesh Hamal's friend.

When Pasang saw himself on the big screen for the first time, he thought, 'I am also a big man'. Although he is a little older than Rajesh Hamal. However, during the shooting of 'Prithvi', he used to tremble with fear in front of actor Tika Pahari, who was older than him.

From 'Dharm Sankat', 'Man Mandir', 'Muktidata', 'Agnipath', 'Rakshak', 'Saathi' to the recent 'Jhinge Dau', 'Lakhe', 'Kandetaar', 'Pardeshi 2', Pasang has worked in more than 500 films.
