Slum dwellers have been evacuated peacefully in Thapathali, Shantinagar and Gaerigaun in Kathmandu. In Manohara in Bhaktapur, locals have obstructed the installation of dozers. 14 people, including DSP Nawaraj Dhungana, the head of the Police Circle, Thimi, were injured in the clash. 

Among the injured are 8 policemen, 5 armed policemen and a photojournalist Kamal Prasai. A photojournalist from OnlineKhabar.com was attacked by locals while taking a picture. 

‘We encountered obstructions while trying to demolish some pucca houses and huts,’ said Bhaktapur Police Chief SP Surya Bahadur Khadka. ‘Since it is evening, we have returned to resume from Sunday morning.’ There are data that 90 households are living in disorderly settlements in Kageshwori Manohara-8 and 9. 

The campaign to evacuate the slum dwellers that began in Thapathali at 6 am on Friday was completed peacefully. Although there have been clashes and demonstrations in the slums of Thapathali in the past, there were no untoward incidents this time. Keeping in mind the past background, the police had given priority to security management in Thapathali. CCTV was also installed only on Friday evening.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Ishwaraj Poudel said that the residents of the slums in both Thapathali and Gairigaun supported the administration's decision. 'The city police, police and the Armed Police Force helped in removing their belongings,' he said, 'those who had no other choice were taken to Dasharath Stadium and their details were collected.'
