Iranian security forces have taken Amrit Jha, 30, of Udayapur, Gaighat, into custody from the Jalghati area of ​​Hormuz. He was taken into custody by the Iranian army at the Bandar Abbas port in the Hormuz area while on his way to Iran to buy oil. 

According to Amrit's sister Pooja Jha, a 'voice message' that Amrit was in the control of the Iranian army came on WhatsApp a few days ago. ‘Eight days ago, a voice message came on WhatsApp from an unknown number. In the message, my brother said that the Iranian army had taken us into custody and that other Indians had also been arrested,’ Pooja told Kantipur on Friday. ‘Later, when we tried to contact that number, we were unable to do so.’

According to Pooja, Amrit went to Dubai two years ago for work. He used to work on a ship of the Black Sea Marine LLC company there. ‘The last time my brother called me was on January 12, at that time he said that I am in Iran now, my work is almost done, and then I will come directly to Nepal,’ Pooja added, ‘But suddenly after receiving a voice message that my brother was arrested, we have applied to the consular department to search for him. I request the Nepal government to take the initiative for my brother’s release as soon as possible.’ 

My brother suddenly sent a voice message on WhatsApp eight days ago saying that the Iranian army had taken us into custody, but later when I called that number, I could not be contacted: Pooja Jha Amrit’s sister.

Ramkaji Khadka, head of the West Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave information at a press conference on Friday that a Nepali is in the custody of the Iranian army. ‘The personal details of the arrested person have not been officially received,’ he said. Stating that Iran has not officially informed about the arrested Nepalis, the Nepali Embassy in Qatar has said that it is trying to get more information from Iran on this matter.
