The Election Commission has sent invitations to the heads of election commissions of various countries to observe the elections to be held on February 21.

According to commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, invitations have been sent to the chief commissioners of SAARC countries, including Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan. 

Similarly, the election commissions of Australia, South Korea, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan have also been invited, said spokesperson Bhattarai. However, he said that it has not yet been confirmed which countries will come. 

The commission is also holding discussions with the heads of missions in Kathmandu today regarding election observation.

‘The Commission will bear all the expenses, including accommodation and travel, of guests coming from outside at the invitation of the Commission,’ Bhattarai said, ‘The Commission will facilitate the officials of foreign missions present here in observing the elections.’
