According to SP Narendra Kunwar, Chief of the District Police Office, Bara, Manita, the daughter-in-law of the deceased 46-year-old Sumitradevi Mandal, and a person named Dhirendra Mahato Dhanuk have been arrested on charges of involvement in the incident. 'Initial investigation shows that an extramarital affair is involved,' he told Kantipur.
Sumitradevi Mandal and her 24-year-old son Rameshwar Mandal were killed with sharp weapons on Wednesday morning and night. The police had started an investigation as soon as they came to know about the incident. In the process, the police came to know about Dhirendra, who had gone to Dubai for foreign employment and returned on 11 Magh. The police say that the dispute started after the family came to know about their relationship. The police say that it seems that the mother and son were killed after that. ‘As soon as we received information about that relationship, we searched for Dhirendra, but in the process, we found that he had already fled,’ said an investigation officer. ‘During the technical examination, it was found that he had already reached India.’ But the Bara police have managed to arrest him from the border area. The police claim that he confessed to the crime during initial interrogation. The police are searching for the knife used in the murder.
