The parliamentary committee has passed the draft report of the Film Bill, 2081.

The bill was passed with amendments at a meeting of the Legislative Management Committee under the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament held at Singha Durbar on Monday. The bill was passed to make it contemporary, informed the committee chair Tulsa Kumari Dahal.

Chairperson Dahal said that they have tried to make the act made in 2026 BS contemporary by looking at each section. She said, 'Many amendments have also been accepted. Now, this is the digital era. We have revised this bill according to that era.'

The bill has a verification committee in place of the censor board. Similarly, there is a provision to appoint experts as the chairperson of the committee.

According to Chairperson Dahal, the agenda has been set to present the draft report of the bill in the National Assembly meeting to be held tomorrow (Tuesday).
