Snowfall has occurred in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Snowfall has started in Jumla, Mugu, Humla and Dolpa of Karnali since Friday night. This is the first snowfall of this year in Karnali.
Snowfall has been occurring in the higher areas of both the provinces since Friday night with the change in the weather. Although normal life has been affected due to the increase in cold weather along with the snowfall, farmers are excited after a long time.
The lakes in the upper areas of Dolpa are covered with snow. Farmers are excited as the snow that fell in the second week of Magh will help in harvesting winter crops. Local farmer Durga Prasad Devkota of Tripurasundari Municipality said that the snow along with the rain will benefit the wheat, barley, and urad crops sown in Mangsir.
Snowfall is still continuing in some places in Dolpa, Humla, Mugu and Jumla. However, there is concern that if there is too much snow in the upper areas of Humla and Dolpa, the upcoming Falgun 21 elections may be affected.
Meanwhile, snowfall has occurred in Dadeldhura, Bajhang, Darchula in the far west and Khodpe, Shribhavar, Dholyamod, Musyachor, Satbajh, Dehimandau, Shivnath and other areas of Baitadi. It is also raining in other areas.
