The then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak said that he had not received any information about his detention.

He said this while talking to the media after returning from giving a statement to the inquiry commission formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24. 'I heard that the commission had imposed a curfew, but I don't know. I have no information,' he said, 'I came to know from the Minister of Communications.'

'When a decision is made to impose curfew on a person, should the person concerned be asked for what purpose, for how long, and what is the justification?' He said, 'I also heard that the passport was withheld, but I don't know why or for how long. I don't even have a passport. I don't have any documents.' He told the media that his passport was also destroyed in the arson.
