The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) spent three months constructing a special steel cage to transport Khagendra Prasad and Rudrakali, the elephants raised in Chitwan National Park, to Qatar. According to Anandaram Thapa, a sub-engineer at the NTNC, it took three months to build such a cage.

The cage, made of iron and GI pipes, weighs about three tons. Stating that the cage was built to fit inside a charter plane coming from Qatar to pick up the elephants, he said, "We have taken special care to ensure that they do not move back and forth." The elephants will be transported to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa by truck in this cage and will be sent inside the plane along with the cage, he said.

Rudrakali, weighing 1,500 kg, is 7 years and 2 months old, while Khagendra Prasad, weighing 1,600 kg, is 6 years and 1 month old. In 2081 Baisakh, during the two-day state visit of Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Nepal had announced that it would gift two elephants to Qatar. Khagendra Prasad and Rudrakali will now stay at Qatar's Al-Khor Zoo.
