The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has resumed accepting applications for visit visas, which were suspended since Bhadra 24, from Thursday. The UAE has not yet decided on the issue of employment visas.

The UAE had stopped issuing visit and working visas for Nepalis after a prisoner escaped from a prison during a violent protest on Bhadra 24. Ekendra Thapa, the owner of Namaste Travel, which deals with visas, said that the UAE has started accepting applications since Thursday. The UAE has not yet officially informed the embassy about the suspension of visas for Nepalis. It has not even issued a public notice.

According to the Immigration Department, 12,797 people have arrived from July to September 25. Of these, 4,420 are Nepalese. The UAE is a major destination for Nepalis. About 40 percent of those who receive work permits from the Department of Foreign Employment are going to the UAE. It seems that an average of 794 people have received work permits to go to the UAE every day in the month of Shrawan.

If we look at the data of the month of Shrawan of the current fiscal year, 17,779 people have received work permits to go to the UAE. Similarly, 6,059 people have received work permits again. On this basis, the department's data shows that a total of 23,838 people received work permits for the UAE in the month of Shrawan alone.

According to the data of the fiscal year 2081/082, 201,148 people obtained work permits to go to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This data excludes re-work permits.
