The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to continue the investigation by keeping Lekh Bahadur Karki, the then Joint Secretary of Nepal Trust, in custody for an additional eight days.

On Sunday, 8 days were granted for further investigation against him. Karki, 66, is a retired joint secretary. He was arrested from Chitwan on Friday and arrested for investigation into the land lease agreement of the trust located at Durbarmarg. The court granted him an 8-day remand for the first time after the government prosecutor demanded that the investigation be conducted while he was in custody. The police have initiated an investigation into the charges of fraud and criminal breach of trust on charges of leasing land for 30 years to the detriment of the organization. They argued in court that he should be kept in custody as there was a connection between the involvement of other powerful people in the land lease.
