The inquiry commission formed to investigate the Gen-G agitation and protests that took place on 23 and 24 Bhadra has intensified the statement taking. The commission has set a work schedule for the 23rd to take statements from police personnel and officers deployed from Maitighar Mandal to Tinkune and other important places.

Before taking the statements, the commission had written a letter to the police headquarters asking for details of all security personnel deployed in the field on Bhadra 23 and 24. The commission had directed to provide details of security personnel deployed in the field, from jawans to field officers, and level-wise details of the officers who gave orders.

The commission had asked to send details by revealing the level and person according to their responsibilities. 'Who fired on the 23rd? Who gave the order? Why did they fire?' It had asked for details for the study by asking questions such as 'Who fired on the 23rd? Who gave the order? Why did they fire?' However, in the response sent to the commission a few days ago, the police have replied that everyone from the Inspector General of Police to the police personnel were deployed in the field during the Gen-G movement.

Following this response from the police, the commission has again sent a letter on Sunday asking for all details to be provided within 24 hours and to assist in the statements. The commission has asked to provide names and times rather than a comprehensive answer since separate statements should be taken on the 23rd and 24th and since the conditions of the people deployed from Maitighar Mandal to Tinkune and the security personnel deployed elsewhere at that time were different. According to the commission, if the police respond by Monday, their statements will begin gradually.

This is how statements are being taken

The inquiry commission is preparing to take statements from the police officers deployed in the field in the first phase on how the shooting situation arose on the 23rd and how it turned into vandalism on the 24th. After the security personnel deployed in the field, the commission is preparing to reach the IGP, the officer who instructed them, and to take statements from members of the Security Council and Chief District Officers.

The commission is preparing to take statements from the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, police officers, Home Secretary, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The commission is also preparing to take statements from those responsible for the incidents outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The commission has not yet formulated a procedure for investigating the vandalism, looting and arson in government and private structures including the Parliament, Singha Durbar, Supreme Court, President's Residence, Prime Minister's Residence, hotels, media houses, Bhatbhateni on 24th Bhadra and calling those involved for statements.

A member of the commission said that the commission will initially take statements about the incident on the 23rd and the damage to government structures, and will also work on the damage to personal property.
