An Altitude Air helicopter has crashed in Lobuche, near the Everest Base Camp. The Altitude Air helicopter, with the call sign Alpha Mike Serra, which was carrying foreign tourists from Lukla, skidded in the snow while landing at the Lobuche helipad at 7:43 am on Wednesday.

Captain Vivek Khadka is safe, police said. District Police Chief DSP Manojit Kunwar said that Captain Khadka was the only one in the helicopter because he had come for the rescue.

Chief District Officer Lila Kumari KC Pandey confirmed that the helicopter crash occurred at 8:15 am. DSP Kunwar said that Captain Khadka was brought to Lukla by a Kailash Air helicopter.

The police said that the helicopter was not set on fire and was in an overturned state. Due to thick snow in Khumbu, the helicopter had been rescuing tourists since morning.
