UML leader Mahesh Basnet has given a statement to the cyber bureau of the police. An officer of the Cyber Bureau said that he was released after giving a statement on a complaint filed against the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
A woman had filed a complaint against him for character assassination. However, initially the police did not accept the complaint. Against that, she went to the public prosecutor's office. After the office sent the complaint to the police, he was called for questioning.
"He came at 10 o'clock, after that we left after making a statement," said the officer. Basnet is also a member of the Politburo of CPN-UML.
