The flight to China's Guangzhou, which Nepal Airlines Corporation has set as the 11th international destination, has been stopped at the last moment.
According to the passenger service department of the Corporation at Tribhuvan International Airport, there were 41 passengers on the first flight scheduled for 10 pm on Thursday. 17 of them were going there to participate in an event organized by the agency China Speed Airport and Aviation Service for the first commercial flight to Guangzhou.
China has claimed that the flight could not take place on Thursday night because the corporation did not approve the 'flight plan' submitted before the flight. There are 5 offices related to China's civil aviation. If any one of them does not approve the flight plan at the last moment, the flight will be stopped," said a director of the corporation. "On Thursday, the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, the corporation's agent company in Guangzhou and Nepal did not get permission for the scheduled flight after many attempts. After 24 hours, permission has been received from China for the flight on Friday.
After the cancellation of Thursday's flight, the Corporation kept 24 passengers who were planning to fly from Kathmandu to a hotel in Dnyaneshwar at night. Similarly, 130 passengers who were planning to come to Nepal from Guangzhou on Thursday night were also kept in the hotel there. The corporation has prepared to send/bring the stopped passengers from the rescheduled first flight on Friday night.
The presiding officer said that the inquiry committee has been instructed to investigate whether all the work related to the first inaugural flight was done according to the checklist and find out the reason for not getting the flight plan approval on time and submit a report with suggestions.
According to the commercial department of the corporation, China had previously suspended the flight of the two cargo flights scheduled from Kathmandu for the last time when the 'flight plan' of the corporation was not approved . Similarly, earlier, after the corporation brought a narrow body ship, the first flight to Delhi in January 2071 was canceled at the last minute like the flight to Guangzhou on Thursday citing the reason that India did not receive the documents.
The then government formed an inquiry committee under the coordination of the Chief Secretary. At that time, the then General Manager Madan Kharel resigned after this flight was cancelled.
