Clashes at a children's home have left five dead, with parents demanding justice after police intervened.

On the night of August 24, five children were killed when the police opened fire when they tried to escape from the correctional home at Naubasta in Banke. Two people were injured. The injured are being treated at Bheri Hospital.
The police said that five people died in the clash. Parents have accused the police of indiscriminately killing their children, who are serving the sentence.
The deceased are 21-year-old Umesh Bisht of Achham, 20-year-old Vinesh Gharti Magar of Dang, 20-year-old Sameer Thapa of Banke Khajura, 19-year-old Jagat Deuba of Kailali and 21-year-old Bhupendra Khatri of Dailekh. All the five who died had reached the Children's Correctional Home in the rape case.
Sameer from Khajura Rural Municipality-1 in Banke came to the Children's Home on 10th Baisakh after being decided by the district court. Umesh of Achham Ramaroshan-4 was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 25,000 by the Achham District Court. Umesh came to the Children's Home on 1st November 2076. He had 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment left.
19-year-old Jagat Deuba of Lamkichuha-6 in Kailali was sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Kailali District Court and fined Rs 333,000. He came to Balsudhar Home on 24th February 2080. Surkhet District Court sentenced 21-year-old Bhupendra Khatri of Dailekh Mahabu-2 to 8 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 333,000. He had 6 years and 10 months left. He came to the Children's Reform Home on 24 June 081.
20-year-old Vinesh Ghartimar of Dang Ghorahi-13 came to the Children's Correctional Home on 2 January 2008 by the decision of the Dang District Court in the case of coercion. The police said that the clash started when the child laborers in the correctional home tried to break the gate of the prison.
'In the beginning, he broke the gate by yelling. The clash started when they broke their wall and tried to break the gate of the prison there. After that, only Nepal Police and Armed Police could enter. All our employees came out," said Shyam Bahadur Rana, the head of the Children's Correctional Home. "The inmates in the Correctional Home escaped while controlling the clash." 58 people are still absconding.
Three prisoners of Ramechhap lost their lives
On Thursday morning, 26 August, three prisoners were killed when the army opened fire on the prisoners who tried to escape by ransacking the district jail in Ramechhap. 51-year-old Rajkishore Yadav of Biratnagar-5, Morang, who was serving his sentence in the case of extortion, and 58-year-old Bikaru Dhobi of Ganeshman Charnath Municipality-3, Dhanusha, who was sentenced in the case of dutiful killing, died on the spot. Manoj Mahato of Dhanusha Janakpurdham-12, who is serving sentence in human trafficking case, died in Dhulikhel Hospital during treatment.
Death by bullet while trying to escape from prison
On August 25, inmates started vandalism in Dhading prison. After the prisoners tried to escape by breaking the gate, the Nepalese army used water fountains to stop them. After breaking the channel gate and starting to leave, 2 prisoners were killed by the firing by the army.
One of them was 67-year-old Jit Bahadur Ghale, a resident of Dhading Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-4, who was serving a prison sentence in a case of extortion. Ghale, who is serving jail time in the juvenile delinquency case, is unmarried. Since there is no one in his family, his uncle's children took charge of the body and cremated it.
The other person who died due to gunshots is 38-year-old Inta Bahadur Dala of Sunwal Municipality-12 in West Nawalparasi. He, who works as a driver, was arrested on 7 July 2080 with possession of narcotics from Galchi Village-7 Buddh Park in Dhading. Dala from a lower class family has a wife, a 20-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son. After Dala's death, the family and neighbors are in mourning.
