Srijan Bahira school controversy: Consent to form an inquiry committee

What you should know

An inquiry committee will be formed to resolve the dispute in the creation of the Deaf Residential Secondary School in Pokhara. The decision to form an inquiry committee to meet the demands made by the students and parents who protested against the unrest in the school was made at the ward office of Pokhara-26 on Monday. With this agreement, the students have suspended all protest programs.

Some time ago, Vijay Vick, a student studying in the school, was accused of raping a deaf girl there. The school administration handed Vijay over to the police without even informing his parents. In that incident, Vijay had to spend seven months in jail.

However, after the court acquitted him and acquitted him, the students were saying that there was a conspiracy against Vijay. Vijay's father, Pravin Bishwakarma, accused his son of being trapped due to widespread corruption and political access in the school. President of Gandaki Bahira Sangh Kisan Tamang and student representative Bhesraj Dhakal also portrayed this incident as weakness of the school administration and personal vendetta.

Even though Vijay got justice, other students feared that 'we will be trapped tomorrow too'. The students had been protesting against this fear and disorder in the school since Sunday by halting classes. Their main demand was to transfer five teachers and staff including the principal Sunil Bhandari. After the students' protest, an agreement was reached between the students and stakeholders in the all-party meeting held on Monday regarding the activation of the ward office.

According to Ward President Narendra Thapa, correspondence will be sent to the education department of the metropolis to investigate all the problems raised by the students. He promised to punish those found guilty after investigation.

President Thapa asked the students to contact the ward office directly if they have any problems. He said that he is serious about solving the problem of Srijan Bahira Mavi as it is a school of a different nature. Student Bheshraj Dhakal said that if his demands are not met after the investigation, he will start protesting again.  In the

discussion, Ward President Narendra Thapa, Ward Member Tirtha Bahadur Rajbhat, Ward Education Committee Chandra Bahadur Ranabhat, School Management Committee President Prakash Lal Shrestha and members, Gandaki Bahira Association President Kisan Tamang, Vice President Parvati Bhujel, General Secretary Vishwamitra Bhirkoti, Counselor Suryamohan Baral, Interpreter Anjali Vick, Student Representative Bhesraj Dhakal, Amit Sunar, Malina Shrestha and parents Gauradevi Paija, Rinku Magar and Hriday Kumar.
