UML Deputy Secretary General and former Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has said that it will be difficult to develop a fair, problem-free, cordial, mutual respect and trusting relationship between Nepal and India until the dispute over Lipulek is resolved.

In a conversation with Kantipur, , he also questioned China's latest role. After 2015, China officially informed China with facts and evidence that Lipulek, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura areas belong to Nepal, but China ignored it and said that it agreed with India to make Lipulek a point of bilateral trade. Stating that this agreement between India and China is unexpected for Nepal, he said, 'China does not pay attention to Nepal's sensitivity.'

He said that now there is a tendency in big countries not to look at anything beyond their own interests . He said that as the good neighbors of both China and India, they would be happy if the relations between these countries improved, but the price of improving the relations cannot be paid by Nepal, Nepal's geographical integrity and sovereignty.

Gyawali said that India's latest role has raised the question of how it wants to shape its relations with its neighbour. He said, 'India is the largest country in South Asia . Regional power is . It also seems that it has aspirations to become a world power in the future. A country that is increasing its profile around the world should first review how it will have relations with its neighbors.'

A country that is increasing its profile around the world should first "review" how it will have relations with its neighbors. He said that there is a problem in India's relations with all the small countries of South Asia and gave an example that India's relations with Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are not smooth.

He said that Nepal has contributed a lot for the development and security of India and said that there is no reason why India should not have good relations with Nepal. He said, 'There is no reason why the issues raised by Nepal should not be addressed. If only we had a dispute with India, it could have been that we did not know how to 'deal' with the problem properly. But somewhere, it seems that India has not been able to be generous in its relations with its neighbours, has not been serious about the sensitivities of the neighboring countries, has not taken the initiative to resolve the problem through dialogue, but rather tries to ignore it . India should change this attitude.'

Deputy Secretary General Gyawali said that he will raise this issue during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's upcoming visit to India. He said that no matter should be hidden between the two friendly countries and said that the problem will not be solved only by hiding it. He said, 'There should be an open discussion among friends . You should confidently tell each other your questions . The solution may not come out immediately, but the other friend should know that - what is the position of my friend? Secondly, the problem should be resolved through diplomacy as soon as possible.'

He said that if there is no open discussion, there will be a situation where the friendship will be strained. He added, 'If you want to walk on a long journey, you have to break your shoes and take out pieces of stone. Otherwise, it keeps spreading. We have come here after crossing a long background in the journey of Nepal and India. We will have to move forward together for a long time. But if a piece of stone remains inside the shoe, it will cause a sore on the foot. We don't want that.'
