About the 18-year-old Gaur massacre in which 27 Maoist activists were killed, Upendra Yadav, who was the then president of the forum and now president of Jaspa, Nepal, has spoken in detail about what happened on the day of the incident.

In a detailed interview with Ekantipur, he said that after the incident, various investigations were conducted and the incident  Prabhu Shah claimed that Maoist YCL was taken and attacked and because of that many of them died. Prabhu Shah, who was elected as an independent candidate in the last parliamentary election, is now the president of the Aam Janata Party.

President Yadav said that on the day of the incident, he was discussing  He said that he was surprised when he came to know about the incident and was in the discussion program. He said, 'Did this even happen? Who did this ? How did such an unfortunate incident happen?'

Yadav has argued that there was some exaggeration in the unfortunate incident. After the incident, he said that some dead bodies were found several kilometers away and said, 'Why did that happen? Because, the Maoist was wearing a dress . And all were outsiders. Workers brought in from different districts had different faces. He had not even seen the way there. The man who had gone there under his leadership escaped . In this way, those activists were put in the pre-existing anger towards the Maoists.'

Shortly after this incident, he said that he also questioned the Maoist leader about the incident. He said, 'In the meeting with the Maoist leader, I asked the first question - 'Why did you do such an incident in Gaur?' Their answer was - 'It was a mistake on our part.' They said that their friends made a mistake, we will realize that.' 

He also questioned why they came to meet with us if the claim of the Maoists was correct. He said, 'They said let's move forward together . If the allegations made by the Maoists after the Gaur incident were true, then they would not have come together. The internal decision of their party would not be of that type. Later we started to cooperate. After the election of the first Constituent Assembly, we made Prachanda the Prime Minister. We worked together. We even fought some elections together.' Ekantipur, Upendra said that he has some questions about the incident and he has not yet understood the answers to three of them. Explaining the background behind the incident, he said, 'Based on all this, I have not been able to understand three things regarding the Gaur incident. First, why was there no presence of the administration at the venue? Second, how was the plan for such an event to happen? Where did you come from? Thirdly, after four/four investigations, the case should have been closed or moved forward . Why was it brought forward now after almost 19 years without doing so?'
