The special court convicted the then chief administrative officer of the city, Bimalkumar Pokharel, chief planning engineer Sagar Paudel along with the suspended mayor Thapa . The bench of special court chairperson Judge Teknarayan Kunwar and members Muraribabu Shrestha and Vidur Koirala found guilty in the corruption case on Wednesday. Their punishment will be decided on July 29. According to the law, the crime is punishable by imprisonment for 8 to 10 years.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case on June 29, 2081, with Thapa, Deputy Mayor Leela Kumari Moktan,
6 people as defendants, 300 million 29 million 34 thousand 897 rupees. They were made a defendant in the charge of damaging the river products . Deciding on the same case, 3 people including Thapa were found guilty, while 3 others, Deputy Mayor Leela Kumari Moktan, the then Accounting Officer Vishwaraj Pokharel and the then head of District Coordination Committee Sarlahi, Methur Chaudhary, were acquitted .

The special court has sentenced the suspended mayor of Bagmati Municipality, Bharat Kumar Thapa, to imprisonment and fine for acquiring illegal wealth. The court ruled that he had earned 34.45 million 22 thousand 387 rupees 23 paisa illegally and sentenced him to imprisonment for one year and a fine according to the law.
The said case was decided by the bench of Judge Kunwar and members Shrestha and Koirala.
