Rights activists have written an open letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, saying that the government is silent on the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza.

letter states - 'We the signatories are saddened that the Nepal government did not take a serious response to the ethnic genocide that the Israeli government under the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu has committed for the world to see for almost two years.'

Rights activists have said that Nepal has a strong commitment to non-aligned foreign policy and human rights. In the letter, he said - 'Nepal's open society and democratic constitution should inspire the government to speak in favor of humanity and peaceful resolution of conflicts on the international stage.'

The Prime Minister has been told that the Nepalese government should take a strong and fearless stand against the ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people of Gaza. The letter says - 'To date, more than 60,000 people have died in Gaza, including 20,000 children.' The letter mentions that residents of Gaza are suffering from missile, drone and bomb attacks, sniper fire, and heavy ground attacks.

Israel has made starvation and food shortages its war strategy and has imposed a total ban on grain and medicine entering Gaza, the letter said. "Only last week, more than 800 innocent people who were looking for food and water were killed by the Israeli army," the letter says. We do not want to see Nepal weakened in terms of speaking in favor of justice and peace on the international stage.'

It is mentioned in the letter that 10 Nepalese agricultural trainees were killed in the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, and Bipin Joshi, who was kidnapped, has not been found till date. It has been said - 'We urge the Nepal government to pressure the Hamas leadership through proper mediators for the release of Bipin Joshi and other prisoners.' The

letter further states-'While we are angry and worried about the killing of 10 Nepalis and the abduction of Bipin Joshi, the government and people of Nepal cannot ignore Israel's ongoing massacre of Palestinians in Gaza. We remind you that Prime Minister Netanyahu has been convicted by the United Nations International Criminal Court of using starvation as a method of war and other war crimes and crimes against human rights.'
