Tirtharaj Ghimire, who is teaching in various campuses in Kathmandu, has nominated himself as joint secretary for the first class post of civil servant. After receiving the appointment letter and starting to go to the office, not only the pilgrims, but his family and relatives were all happy. But this happiness did not last long. Less than five months into government service, it has been a decade since he returned home from the pilgrimage office.
Patihani Brahmapuri village is located 10 km south west of Chitwan headquarters Bharatpur. A little further along the Bharatpur-Madi-Thori Hulaki road comes the home of Madhuvilas Ghimire and Thielkumari Ghimire of Brahmapuri. Tirtharaja is the only child of Madhuvilas and Thilakumari. When a new person comes to the house, this couple thinks that a son has arrived! Has anyone come with the news of my son?
76-year-old Madhuvilas expressed his pain, "It has been so long that my son should have come or news about his son's condition, but nothing has come." Everyone who goes out talks about their children, I remember Jhalak Choro. That's why I have stopped going out of the house, I rarely even visit my wife," she said.
After graduating from Chitwan, Tirtharaj, who went to Kathmandu for further studies, started teaching on the campus after completing his master's degree in commerce. Born on 2032 Mansir 15, Tirtha started working at the Administrative Training Institute in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur under the Ministry of General Administration from Chait 2071 after getting nominated as joint secretary from public service in an open competition.
After going to Kathmandu, he used to talk to his mother in Chitwan every day by phone. "There was always a phone call at night before going to sleep. Even on the evening of August 16, 2072, we had fun. But we could not talk from the next day, since then we have been sitting with the hope of hearing our son's speech," said Madhuvilas.
On the morning of August 17, 2072, Tirtha left his house at Chunikhel in Lalitpur in his office car along with his wife Radha. Radha teaches in a school in Patan. Alighted in front of the shrine office, Radha was left in the same car for a little while.
Radha was last seen getting down from the pilgrimage car and rushing towards the office gate. After finishing the office hours, he used to reach the pilgrimage house by 5:30/6 in the evening. But when he did not come even after 8 o'clock that day, Radha became cold and started making inquiries. But that search is not over after a decade.
Radha was in charge of the Planning Division at the Administrative Training Institute, Tirtha. He was also given the responsibility of accounts and finance. "From the day he disappeared, it was said that his signature would also be valid on the check," said Radha. Radha, who saw him getting down from the car and going towards the office, later came to know that Tirtha had not entered the office that day. He bought a mobile phone recharge card in a small shop behind the same gate but did not go to the office. Somnath Ghimire, the son of Tirtha's elder father, said that he did not even appear that day.
The family of Madhuvilas from Lamjung Sailitar came down to Chitwan Brahmapuri. Madhuvilas, who is a farmer by profession, also works as a Jajmani. Born in Lamjung, Tirtha was two years old when he came to Chitwan. After growing up, Tirtha studied till class 5 in Brahmapuri. Then he passed the SLC examination with first class from Amar Mavi, Patihani.
When he started studying science in Birendra Campus, Bharatpur, Tirtha fell ill. He then left science and joined the Faculty of Management at Balkumari College, Narayangadh. After graduating from Balkumari, he did his master's degree from Kirtipur, Kathmandu.
'We are a normal farmer family, we taught our son through suffering. Reading was also good. My son also studied with pain. Later started teaching on campus. Everything was going well,' said Madhuvilas, 'He also had a desire to get a government job.' Teaching on campus was good. He also bought a house in Chunikhel. He used to say that if there is an opportunity, he will serve the government, he can use his abilities for the country. He chose government service for the sake of the country," said Madhuvilas. When he heard that his son, who had such a thought, suddenly did not return home, he felt as if he fell from a cliff.
Madhuvilas stayed in Kathmandu for 16 days in search of his son. At that time, the country was preparing to issue a constitution. The Madhesh movement and India's undeclared blockade were confronting the government with many problems. Even then, he met the then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and persuaded him to find a son.
Koirala also directed the police chief to act with caution. But he was not found. Two/four days after the disappearance, his mobile phone was 'switched on' and showed the location Chitwan Dasdhunga. Then a search was made around Dasdhunga. Madhuvilas sat with his heart pounding to listen to the news, but nothing came.
Madhu Vilas continued to do all the efforts of a common man. How would it have happened to us parents if the only child had no care for 10 years? The daughter-in-law has the same pain and suffering. When the son was lost, the grandsons were only 12 and 10 years old," said Madhuvilas, "Our son is the apple of my eye. Madhuvilas says that he does not see any reason why he should suddenly disappear or hide somewhere without informing anyone. He is not only my son, but also a high-level employee of the government. It seems that the government should also inquire about his condition. Even after so much time has passed, the pain has increased due to not getting any news, but the hope is still alive that it will come one day,' said Madhuvilas with a long breath.
The family has now asked the police to investigate the incident again. "We have asked the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police to search," said Radha. Somnath Ghimire, the son of Tirtha's elder father, who is related to him, said that he was hopeful because the CIB had promised to analyze the developments with the help of technology.
In the meantime, some information about the pilgrimage has also come. Somnath said that he hoped that the facts would be reached if the basis of the information was analyzed. CIB Information Officer SP Yuvraj Khadka said that the nature of the incident is being ascertained by studying the old file.
on the morning of January 3, 2075. The weather in Jhapa suddenly turned cold due to heavy rain. Deepak Bhandari of Mechinagar-10 Dhulabari left home that day as usual, around 10 am. Himalayan College in Dhulabari, which is run with Bhandari's investment. He usually used to reach college early in the morning. Active in politics as well, he enjoyed goffining with friends. He would spend some time gossiping and then return. But since that day he has not come back.
After Bhandari did not return home till evening, his brother Prakash started the search with priority. The news of his disappearance was conveyed to the police office through local villagers and relatives. What was more shocking was that Deepak had left both the bike and the mobile phone that he used daily at home. Such unnatural behavior caused even more anxiety in the family.
After he was not contacted until the next morning, the news of his disappearance spread across the district. After the city-level leader suddenly disappeared, the police administration immediately stepped up search activity. Surveillance of border areas has been tightened. The CCTV footage of Kankadvitta and nearby eastern border was checked.
It was then confirmed that a stunning scene was caught on camera. The missing Bhandari was seen boarding a rickshaw bound for India. After it was confirmed that he had gone to India, the police intensified the search in coordination with the Indian security agencies.
Siliguri, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya to Delhi-Mumbai, even when he was searched, he was not found. Seven and a half years have passed since Bhandari went missing. The sudden disappearance of Bhandari, who was known as a hardworking worker in the party leadership and a responsible figure in social circles, has become a deep mystery. Where are you? We are unaware,'' Mrs. Geeta Bhandari says. That question is still unanswered. He did not give any information to the family, nor to the party itself. This incident is becoming more serious and mysterious as no prior notice was given to go to India either for family or political reasons.
Behaviors such as leaving the daily use items like mobile phones and bikes at home, riding in rickshaws have made the incident even more complicated. According to police sources, the search operation is still going on in the border areas of Siliguri, Darjeeling, Sikkim with India. However, even after seven years, the family is disappointed as no solid clue has been found.
19 June 2081. 4:18 am. Dr. Ramji Timsina wrote a mysterious status on his Facebook account, 'I am taking Jalasamadhi in Barahkshetra, Goodbye!' After posting the status, he left home around 4:30 in the morning and no one saw him. Along with the teaching profession, the disappearance of Timsina, a resident of Itahari, who has made a special place in research and criticism in the field of literature, has also become mysterious.
When the Sunsari police investigated the incident seriously, Timsina's last mobile location was found near Barahkshetra. After that, the police and family involved in the investigation came to the conclusion that he may have taken Jalasamadhi as he wrote in his Facebook status. However, the hope that he will come back is still alive with the family.
A note found by the police from his room also mentioned 'I am taking Jalasamadhi'. Dr. Timsina was teaching English at Koshi College in Itahari and Mahendra Campus in Dharan. Did he really reach the edge of Barahkshetra? Or was that just a sign? Why did he choose such a decision? These questions are still unanswered.
